Have you heard of the scarcity mindset
Apr 22, 2022

I know I did not understand the concept until someone said to me, "Did you know your thoughts can be what you make them?" Then, when I looked around, I felt like I was thinking of what my life was. The concept of my changing how I looked at a situation was foreign until I practiced the idea.

A scarcity mindset is when a person focuses on something they don't have or obsess over the lack of money or time. The person will have tunnel vision on the subject, which affects the person's mental health.

When in a scarcity mindset, the thoughts one might say are, I can't do that, I will never be as good as, I will never have enough money, there is not enough time in the day, or there is not enough to go around.

It is never too late, or you are never too old to change your mindset. I am glad I adjusted through daily practices.

Follow a few of these tips to help make the shift from scarcity to abundance.

  1. Focus on what you have. I am not saying you don't dream of more; however, don't forget what you have right now. If you want a different house, that is a beautiful goal. Remember, you have a roof over your head, food to eat, and clothes to wear. Understand you are in abundance now, and your abundance is increasing.
  2. Look around at the people you are in your circle. Attitude does rub off, are they also of the same scarcity mindset, or when you think more abundant do they think you are crazy? Find someone who portrays the attitude you want, and talk with them. You will be surprised what advice you will get.
  3. Incorporate GRATITUDE into your daily life. Have a gratitude journal to list three to ten things you are grateful for daily. They do not need to be massive items. Here are some examples: having a good night's sleep, drinking an excellent cup of coffee, enjoying the sunshine, or just that you are having a good day.
  4. Lastly, look at possibilities instead of roadblocks. When you hear yourself say I can't do that, why not express how can I do that, or why can't I do that. Look how you can try something different, improve a skill, or follow a dream.

Our brain can only process so much information. So why not have that information be one of abundance that will make your everyday life move forward to the life we desire and deserve.
